Happy Birthday Hubby!

34
Yesterday evening we celebrated hubby's 41st birthday! He played golf in the afternoon so he didn't get home until dark but we made an exception for AG's bedtime so she could celebrate too. After work, I took her to pick blueberries at the farm where we lived in the camper. She did a great job and we picked a ton. We went to the grocery store after that to get supplies for pie and other staples. When we finally got home we took care of the dogs and got to work on our masterpiece. I forgot to put foil around the edges and they got a little extra crispy so I had to do some trimming which takes away from the overall look. But it was pretty enough and tasted great!

I would advise you against putting candles in a hot pie. They'll melt. #duhh

We improvised and worked it out so we could still have a candle for hubby to blow out.

For his gift we kept it simple. He got very nice golf shoes for Father's Day so we had to be more budget minded. He's got a great beard and I noticed he was using AG's toy comb to brush it so I had to do something about that. Behold, the gift:

He seems to like this set much better than the pretty purple plastic comb. I can't imagine why.
While I was at it, I made up a quick batch of "Big Daddy Beard Oil" for him. (Name and recipe by me.)
Here's what I used:
In a cobalt glass 1oz vial with glass dropper

2 parts jojoba oil
1 part grapeseed oil
(filled almost to the neck)
Add:
1 drop Lime essential oil
2 drops Orange essential oil
2 drops Frankinsence essential oil
2 drops Idaho Blue Spruce essential oil
1 drop Cypress essential oil
2 drops Lavender essential oil
3 drops Cedarwood essential oil
(For my post on essential oils go here.)

It smells delightful! Manly and very pleasant. All of these oils have different properties that make them helpful in supporting healthy skin and/or hair. I certainly didn't need to use all of them but I got a little carried away while pulling them out of the oil drawer and smelling as I go. With such a small amount of each, I didn't feel bad using so many. And I certainly don't mind hubby smelling like this! I'll share how it's working after he uses it for a while.

Happy birthday handsome!! We love you!
